HELP!!!
I am looking all over creation for a 44 inch two way separating zipper and I can not find them ANYWHERE.
I live in the USA, and I am looking to buy one online.
If anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.
And yes…I have looked on ebay. I can only find the metal teeth zippers in 36 inch lengths.
I saw the dress on page 27 of the Oct. BurdaStyle issue, and I would like to make it! I also have a similar dress in a pattern I created myself which will require the same type of zipper.
It is so frustrating when you can’t find the materials you need!
UGH! HELP!
Sincerely,
Amy

They have a plastic but heavy duty zip. It’s a little long but you can always trim it to size. I think spotlight makes them to the size you like with a normal zip, you may be able to phone them and make an order.

I also thought you might be able to make one and I was going to try it out today at work but I didn’t get round to it – get another zipper head ( the same size as the one on the zip), then cut the bottom off the zip. Open up the bottom of the zip a little, then with a flat screw driver, wedge open the zipper head, so it opens up. Slide it onto the zip, then clamp it flat ( not too flat so that you can still move the zip up and down). This only works with metal zipper heads.

We do this all the time with zips but I’ve never tried it with a two way zip so I’m not sure if it works.

    Good luck

Thank You for your help Deanna. :-) I have also been thinking about making a “mock” dual zipper. I also recently found a place that makes custom zippers! They are a little pricy, but it is a pretty long zipper to begin with.
I hope to order one soon, but I also want to try making my own. I think that would be cool.

Suggest you call one of the US contacts for YKK zippers and find out if they carry the size and who is the closest retailer to you that might be able to get it for you.

In Canada, a Calgary Alberta fabric store specializing in technical and outdoor fabrics can order in zippers if they are not in stock. http://www.peakfabrics.com/notion

Seattle fabrics has zipper tape and pulls plus zipper stops. I’ve used zipper tape before, but because I’m not that good at installing the zipper stops they tend to come off. But if there’s nothing else it will work.
