Hello
My bobbin does not seem to want to wind up any more and funnily, yesterday my husband said to me that the machine sounded more nosier than normal, then just now I went to wind up a new bobbin with a new colour thread and it won’t move, but it will still sew stiches. I am having to manual wind my bobbin using my hands and not the machine which is so time consuming.
Has this happened to you? What did you do?

Sounds like the link between the bobbin winder and the drive wheel no longer connects. You may have a flat spot on the bobbin winding tyre. That can sound like a machine gun!
If you can get the top cover off and have a look, depending on the type of machine, you may be able to access the part and replace it yourself. If not, you may have to take it in for a service and repair.

Hi Kate thanks again for the advice, I can’t seem to get the top off.
I can still sew though I have been working all day on a shirt with no problems just winding my own bobbin. As my machine was a real cheapy one from Argos it may not even be worth paying for a service/repair for it, do you know if it generally expensive for this work service/repair that’s probably needed? On the plus side hubby just said ’’’make do until the end of the month!‘’ ( so I may get an early birthday present from him to replace this one if it’s dear for the repairs)

I have no idea how much a repair could be. It varies so much from machine to machine. I expect to need to pay quite a bit to get Erik The Viking’s repaired. It’s probably blown a capacitor or something, being as this is one of its electronic bits!

Mine is doing the very same thing today. It has been doing great. All of a sudden it will not rewind a bobbin.
