HI, I just signed up to the site after reading that there were a lot of free patterns.
But I’ve looked all the pattern shop, project pages etc, and I haven’t been able to find them.
I was hoping there would be a section – called free patterns! But I’ve not found that either.
Can someone point me in the right direction to find the free patterns please.
Thanks

I just took a look around and there are a few free patterns left. Look at the very bottom of the list in each category. Too bad they took most of them away :-(((

Have a look at this link, I just spotted it. http://www.burdastyle.com/discussions/request-a-feature/topics/so-what-do-we-not-get-to-post-patterns-anymore—2 I think it’s in the “request a feature” part of the Forum but Burda’s answer tells you where to locate the free patterns uploaded by Burda users now.

Thank you. I assumed that the free patterns were Burda ones – but the member ones are very creative ! Thanks

Hi there,
There are some free Burda patterns available on the site and they are located within the pattern store. There is no way to only display the free patterns there but if you browse through you will come across some free ones.
The user generated patterns are also still on the site and we are having a little glitch in displaying them properly, which we hope to have resolved very soon.
Best,
The BurdaStyle Team

“There is no way to only display the free patterns”
Well, there was, but it seems you have done away with the easily clickable button you used to have that said “free” that filtered out all but the free patterns.

why have most of the free patterns been taken away? along with the filter to only search for free patterns? is not part of the point of this site to introduce and help people to learn to sew?

Ah. How saddening to see that you’ve steered the site yet another step away from what it once was (community based, friendly, helpful) into just another advertising site for a big company. I do see why so many of your old co-workers have left recently. I hope you will rethink this, or I’m afraid many of the old users will leave.

Hi there, three examples of burda free patterns are Danielle dress (member variations include a tunic top, pinafore and summer top), shirred mini dress pattern and there is a summer top with shirring), hope this helps

Ummm…a few months ago, there were tons of free patterns. Stupidly, I didn’t download any!!! Now, why am I coming back again? For them! I do buy Burda patterns. If only you made it easy for me to get a freebie for ONCE in my life, I would love you a lot more!

I was looking around for the free patterns and there were only 2 pages! I am very disappointed that the others have all disappeared, hopefully they will be back the next time I visit.

I don’t think they have disappeared, they’re just moved. In the pattern store you only find the free patterns of burdastyle but under projects you can still find the patterns posted by members. They’re just not as easy to find as they were before:-/

I thought we had a great Ravelry-like-thingy for sewers going on here… Apparently NOT.

I never even knew they post free stuff… How cool! But of course it’d be great if they published some more…

If you go into pattern store click on which ever section you want at the top of that section it has a section the says: SKILL LEVEL- SIZE- and a little box that says FREE click on this .

Well, if ya’ll haven’t figured it out yet, in the pattern store, there is a little checkbox next to the options of skill level and size that states “Free Patterns” … :P :)
