Hi, I am headed to NY at the end of September and would love to do some fabric shopping. I’m not looking to go super expensive but would like to get some unique fabrics that I can’t find at home. Any suggestions would be great!

The fabric stores are located in the garment district. They are on W36th street to W39th street between 7th and 8th avenues. Because of my business I shop at Spandex House, Sil Thread and Daytona Trim. There is something along these streets for everyone. Enjoy!!

MOOD’S Fabrics ( for dress fabrics). The best and I miss it. Don’t be scared … they have good prices just keep looking. I also use to shop for fabric (tailoring fabrics) in China Town although I don’t know if those stores are still open.

The august/September 2014 Threads issue has a good article on fabric shopping in NYC.
