Hi! Guys,
Pretty much a non sewing person here, but would like some advice..
Scored a real pretty kinda wiggle dress on etsy..girl had measurements wrong.
.i asked twice about hips, but i think she just wanted a sale (oh well).
Its only vintage as far as the 90’s, but looks 50’s….
I dont think there is much to take out, and i guess u cant add anything to make it bigger, cause it is non stretchy velvet…

1)Is it easy though to alter a velvet dress smaller,..for someone else? I heard velvet can be a real problem…

2)or can you add fabric to non stretchy velvet to make it bigger some how?

no velvet suggestions at all? :)

Velvet can’t be ironed, it needs to be steamed.

You can add a V shaped piece of fabric to the sides, or a panel from the armhole down, as long as your careful to make the stitch line exactly on or before the original stitch line – anytime velvet is sewn then unpicked, it leaves a mark.

It shouldn’t be too bad to take it in, just remember that pins can leave a mark too

    Good luck
