I’m currently working on my wedding dress with boning in the front and back that extends over the bust – predictably that has led to a bit of a flat front. Rather than take in the dress in the area under the bust and put strain on the fabric, I am wondering if using a stay much like a waist stay, but attaching the boning just under the bust, would have a similar effect in pinching in the dress here and defining the bust.

Has anyone tried this?

    You’ll need to do both. And probably let it OUT a smidge over the bust… What have you made the foundation layer out of?

    It’s satin duchesse. I’ve taken in the area under the bust and lowered the front a bit to allow a bit of bust fullness to escape – and it seems to be OK! And thats before stitching in the ditch to bring the boning towards the finished shape. Thanks Kate
