I am trying out an ancient dress pattern (Maudella 5777) .It has long diagonal darts that start from the waist and end at the bust. The problem is above the bust there is too much fabric, its pouffy just where your bra straps go and across the chest. Does anyone have a thought on how to get rid of it? Would creating a couple of darts from armhole to bust work?

Can you post a pic of the problem area? You darts my need to go above the bust into the neckline. If you have a mannequin your size or a sewing buddy, you can put it on and make the necessary adjustments to fitting.
