Hi all
I am a novice and am currently using a very beginner’s A-line skirt pattern (not sure wether to be specific on which one). The pattern is said to be very flattering.
My issue with this is i have a very generous behind let’s say, and the pattern calls for 2 pleats on the back,
my instincts tell me this might add volume and I am wondering if anyone knows wether darts would be preferable or make no difference at all?
I am torn between following the pattern being new at this or changing it before adding the waistband.
Ok, now i see why i should have made a test skirt first.
Thank you

If I’m picturing it correctly, the bottom part of the skirt would hang differently below the dart to how it would with pleats. Have you got a spare piece of fabric and you could just baste or pin it with darts and then with pleats and hold it in place over your rear to see which looks better?

Thanks – good idea. I was trying to drape it over myself but I find it hard to visualise finished garment. All practice I guess.
