I was wondering if anyone could recommend somewhere in the UK (well, London specifically) where I could get my sewing machine serviced?
It’s been (ahem) over ten years, and I’ve never had it done. Whilst I have never had any serious problems, I am in a pro-sewing state of mind, and plan to do a lot, and want to make sure it’s in tip-top condition.

Any suggestions?

Ideas: -ask any friends who were/are in fashion design as to who maintains their machines (at work, at school) -have any friends who are in costume design that might have some names to recommend? -are there any vendors of your brand of sewing machine you could call? -classifieds in your community papers; ask sewing/quilting groups via email -who do your sewing friends go to for their machine repairs?

Also, if you know anyone who does stacks of skating or dance costumes for schools, find out where they get their machines serviced or if there is a home-visiting repairperson that does on-site visits.

Bromley Sewing Machines. Look them up and give them a call.

purplefan – Without sounding like a sad sack – I don’t have any sewing friends! Maybe I’ll call a school though.

Katexxxx – will call them up and enquire. Thanks!
