You have to talk to your school counselor — either fashion design courses or theatre costume design.

I’d suggest that you get involved with theatre groups, community or professional if possible to get experience with the costuming aspect (you might try it and find you do or don’t like it) or better yet, a costume store. Maybe university studies will not be sewing related at all (it’s about what you can use that degree for to make money and the arts don’t really support most folks) but your extra-curricular stuff will involve sewing to keep your interest and zest for fabric going. Perhaps a calling to the museum world or history?

See if you know anyone that makes dance outfits or skating outfits for clubs/recitals (don’t know what money there is but ask studios who they use to make the outfits). There will be tons of fittings because some students want or need extra changes and you have to smile and try to do them—could be a crash course in how busy you can be or not (know of a woman who’s in that scene and she has tales).

Or do you see yourself going into alterations for a high-end store under someone’s tutelage and finding a placement to work your way into a regular job?
