Hi Ladys
I’m very much looking for a pattern to design one or tow bags where I can store all the stuff, that one needs for sewing-Classes
I like to have a compartment for everything to draw and cut patterns
And a bag for the sewing-Stuff – (bobins, threads, material etc.
Do you know where I can find that – I’m quiet willing to pay – it doesn’t have to be a free pattern.
How do YOU organise your stuff, when you have to take it with you?
Thank you very much

HI MN,
When I was in school at FIT I used a fish mouth tool bag from a hardware store (like home depot). I was riding the subway back and forth every day and needed something sturdy but super useful. Inside had many many wonderful pockets for all of my “tools” and I was always the most organized in my class. I have looked for a pattern for making one like this but there really aren’t any. Especially because the notions for internal structure are very difficult to find.
If you are really set on making yourself a sewing tool bag, I suggest the pattern for the 147 shoulder bag. http://www.burdastyle.com/pattern_store/patterns/shoulder-bag-082011 Its free on Burda and seems endlessly customizable on the inside. If you use a very stiff cording you can get a bag that will support the weight of all your sewing tools while sitting on a table. And, if you add inside pockets you can make them out of clear vinyl for easy access. I might have to make this for myself!
Good luck!

I prefer a clear plastic tote box. I can find everything more easily in it than in a bag. Then I would carry everything in a bag anyway because large fabric pieces would not fit into the box. Some people like sewing boxes with little spindles for the spools of thread. You could also find inexpensive plastic tool boxes. There are little shelves and compartments for scissors and tools. You could put your cutout garment pieces in there if you are sewing smaller garments.
The advantage of using a plastic box to store sewing stuff over a fabric or plastic bag is that you will not stick yourself (or someone else) in the transit with the pins.
