I am trying to make my daughter a wardrobe for her dolls, I have made a dress no problem but when it comes to making pants its another story. I am trying to make a pair of jeans fromSimplicity pattern 7083 I am stuck at step 2 which says, FOR VIEW A-On OUTSIDE, top-stitch RIGHT front close to center seam and 1/8" (3mm) away, as shown, the pic does not show me at all what is supposed to be done I am so confused. Please anyone able to change these directions into plain English I’m a first time sewer so maybe it is just the lingo I’m not getting, not sure.

I think it is topstitching, done with the right side facing you. It would be to make it look like there was a zipper under there. It would curve around the bottom and then up straight to the waistband.

I agree, it’s just a decorative top stitch. Stitch your center front seam and then fold your seam allow closed to one side and top stitch from the right side catching the seam allowance on the underside.

What they haven’t phrased clearly is that you need to topstitch twice; first close to the seam, and then 3mm away. The instructions on their own are confusing if you don’t know what they are asking for. A picture certainly would have helped with this : ).
