Hi I want to make an single-breasted coat with an a-line skirt.
The white coat in the middle of this picture is pretty much exactly what I want to make:

but the pattern is vintage and expensive, so I was wondering if there were any more recent patterns with a similar design?
My top priorities are the shape (fitted bodice, a-line skirt, single-breasted), I’d love a hood but I would be willing to give it up if I had to.

Have you looked in the Vogue pattern catalogue? They had some of similar shapes recently.

Unfortunately I couldn’t find one – there’s one with a similar shape but it’s double-breasted and that doesn’t suit me at all :/ Unless I’m looking somewhere else, these are all the patterns available right? http://voguepatterns.mccall.com/sewing-patterns-pages-167.php Is there anywhere to search all patterns? Not by pattern house (ie. butterick etc.), just all the coat patterns available?

Have a look at sewingpatterns.com, they have all brands and you can search by garment type:

Then just buy the pattern through them or better yet sign up to their email newsletter, they have a brand on sale each week so wait until it is cheap ;) I never go to the shops anymore, saves me the petrol and disappointment when they don’t have it in my size

Or have you got a dress pattern like it and you just adapt it and use coat fabric instead? (it might be harder than it sounds i guess but maybe if you did it with a front zip fastening instead of buttoned up it’d be straightforward enough?)
