I need your advise. I have bought patterns in the past but they never fit well. My measurements are 36-30-42. What is the best pattern size to buy? I know i will have to make alterations.
Thanks

If you are a B cup bra, buy for your bust measurement for blouses, dresses, coats, jackets… and alter the waist and hips to fit. For trousers and skirts, buy for the hips and alter the waist.
If you are a C cup or bigger, measure above the bust under the arms. Use this as the bust measurement and fo a full bust adjustment to make the bust fit.

Thanks Kate, but i have always had a problem doing adjustments for arm. Even if the bust pattern fit the armhole is always tight and i can never seem to get it to fit right.
PS…I’m a C cup.

You may find that when you get the correct fit for the bust, the armscye fits better. Once you have the bust fitting correctly, we can look at what the armscye and sleeve are doing.

OK… I really need to see a ‘full frontal’ on this one. Done up, sleeves in, hands hanging naturally by your sides, and a pic from front, back, and each side, plus a close up of any wrinkled areas. you’ll need a second person to take the pix. At the moment it still looks as if MOST of the pulling is because the front isn’t quite large enough round the bust, but I need to see the back and sides as well to see where you need to add fabric. You may also need to give it wider shoulders.
The armscye look OK for a sleeveless item or one that is very close fitting, but the fit will be different when we look at the other areas, so Don’t alter that yet! :)
