Hi all!
I have a very important event coming up this summer and have been on the look out for the perfect dress…and I found it. The only problem is that it’s no longer in print and can’t be found anywhere.
Do any of you know of any similar patterns??
Thank you!

Woo! You have an eye for a 1937 style dress-found a 2013 reference to pattern having sold online for over $200. Thing is, I’m sure BurdaStyle has something in a dress like that-the waistline styling. Matter of finding out which issue… But while you like the dress you found, which detail of the dress is most important to you?

Thank you Carmen…started to have a look on there last night but got distracted and forgot what site I was on! Can go back to it now :) That pattern is fab and has almost an identical back design!
Purplefan…I think we read the same article! I was so shocked. I love the neckline and the way the back is styled. It’s everything I was looking for!

I’ve gone through the blog posts on the forum (and the dress patterns too plus on German BurdaStyle) and aside from about two articles on the thirties’ fashions, the decade itself seems to be a missing one in terms of patterns. Burda has done 20s at least twice in last three or four years, 50s keep cycling in and out of issues along with 60s, 70s and 80s. http://www.burdastyle.com/blog/aenne-burda-collection-6-retro-patterns#read-on

The one pattern I thought might be close for the back detail is wrong-it is a 60s pattern with a draped low back but you should take a look:http://www.burdastyle.com/pattern_store/patterns/vintage-dress-052012
The bodice and shoulder details are approaching your desired look:http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/6-2010-long-evening-dress-with-jeweled-shoulders
This gown is not close but stunning colour:http://www.burdastyle.com/pattern_store/patterns/122011-satin-evening-gown
I saw this maxi dress and thought the twisted section might catch your fancy:http://www.burdastyle.com/pattern_store/patterns/twisted-maxi-dress-022013
At this point, your faint hopes are getting someone (could it be you?) to draft a pattern based on the image you have of the dress or wait and see if I can point out back issues of BurdaStyle (might mean classified or Ebay shopping) for you to seek. Am going to see if the French archives point out any contenders-the archives go back to part of 2006. As discussed recently on THIS forum, certain designer patterns that were published in magazines are not in the pattern store. The other thing for the dress is you may wish to find a pattern that shows the waist down part of the dress and combine it with a bodice similar to what you want. Won’t keep you waiting too much-will see what I can find today.

This dress front has the waist shaping and centre seam but is more fitted than the fluid A-line of the pattern you want. Click on Schema de modele to see the technical drawing-pattern is from Dec. 2006http://www.burdafashion.com/fr/Magazines/Archives_des_magazines/132_Robe_131_Bolero/1270777-1463237-1436892-1436902-1436938.html
Actually found a different 1930s pattern-wedding dress in the Duchess of Windsor style, March 2008:http://www.burdafashion.com/fr/Magazines/Archives_des_magazines/116_Robe_duchesse_de_Windsor/1270777-1463237-1597916-1597922-1598103.html
