I’ve recently learned about the Russian site Lekala ( Right here ), who are supposed to have free fixed sized sewing patterns for download as well as the opportunity to buy customized patterns in any size.
They have a load of nice patterns, masses, and I happen to be very close to the sample size, so I’d love to download one or two and try them out but I just can’t find where/how to download them.
Does anyone have any information that might help me? I hope I’ve simply not found it, but fear they’ve removed the opportunity…?

I think they only allow them to be free a certain times, usually for a month. I’ve seen them do this maybe 3 times but apparently not at the moment, there is usually another line of links under “View : – technical description – - design picture – Find contest photo” that is for the pdf and instructions sheet. Sorry :( But if I see it free again (I get their weekly email update) I’ll holla in your direction :)

Read comment 3 by Claire says they are available free only at certain times: http://www.fehrtrade.com/article/493/how-to-buy-lekala-patterns
Many of free ones look identical to free Modern Sewing patterns. http://m-sewing.com/
Oops sorry kiwi saw your post after submitting mine….

Aha, great. Then there’s still a chance. Thank you both for answering, and yey, kaitui-kiwi, please shout in my direction if you see it happen! Reminds me of the Vogue pattern site with their 2.99/3.99-sales. Almost free compared to the normal 15:99. But then, I have to pay for worldwide postage, not cheap. But still!

Ohoh, I just had another quick look, and quite a few of their jackets/capes/coats are available in larger sizes (Burda 44 + 46) for free download at the moment. I just looked at the dresses before. So nothing for me at the moment but for all ladies with about “Size 168-100-82-106 (like a size 44 magazine Burda)” and/or “Size 168-104-82-110 (like a size 46 magazine Burda)”, go download! I do like their style. patti-r: My favourites aren’t on M-sewing, unfortunately, but quite a few patterns are, I think you’re right!

Hey Ichigogirl,
I’ve been going through Lekala patterns quite a lot during this year, and I can tell they used to permanently have the fixed smaller size as a free download. In October they gave out most patterns for free in Burda sizes 44 and 46 (and apparently left some of the coats and cloak patterns up for downloading). The smaller downloadable size used to be offered on the spot where the Burda size 44/46 is offered now; it looks like they just haven’t uploaded the usual smaller fixed size back yet. I hope they will! I’m quite close to Burda size 44, but slightly smaller, so I happily downloaded a lot of Lekala patterns on October. I’ve tried a couple of them out, and they’ve been pretty good -even a little skimpy for a size 44, so I advice to measure the patterns carefully before sewing. :)

Hello ichigogirl & kaitui-kiwi
Please keep us all updated on other patterns. I do some charity work for students who can not afford special occasion dresses and this would be very useful.
ichigogirl, Yes the Modern Sewing are the same even the pattern numbers the same, but these are “so much better” for printing out at home, pay close attention to the technicals on some you have to “add the pattern number to end of file name” to save them or they can say you already saved the technicals. Your awesome translating them to English great time saver.
kaitui-kiwi, Holler, Scream or Yell at me too!!!Thank you both, Big Hugs, Patti

Many of the Lekala patterns are still available to download in sizes 44 and 46. Most of the undies, many dresses, tops, skirts, you just need to get past the first few pages of each section to find them!
Just a heads up on Modern Sewing, I was informed by a rep from Lekala that Modern Sewing has used these patterns without permission. The patterns are all Lekala designs.
Happy downloading!
