That moment when you are at the last stretch of cutting out all of your material, and you DON"T HAVE ENOUGH!

Well, I bought some beautiful silver and purple houndstooth to make a winter coat some years ago and finally got around to starting the project. Well, towards the end of cutting out the 40-something pattern pieces for this coat, I realized that I did NOT have enough fabric to make the sleeves! Of all the pieces!!! Because I purchased this fabric some time ago, I can’t find it anywhere! Joann fabrics no longer carries it. So, what should I do? Where can I find like 2 yards of this stuff? Should I create something completely different from the pre-cut pieces? If so, what?

I don’t know what your pattern looks like but if you have side panels on the coat you might be able to use those for the sleeves and then use a companion fabric for the side panels. At that point I would also trim out the cuffs of the sleeves wth the companion fabric as well as the collar. The accent fabric could also be used for edging on pockets and a tab accross the center back at the waist. it would look as if your coat was planned that way.

Well, one trendy solution is to make the sleeves out of leather.

I think it would be really cute with the houndstooth…

I would also suggest leather. Nice coat!
