I’m planning on making a dress for my senior prom next year (planning ahead of time) and the gown Jennifer Lopez wore in the movie “Maid in Manhattan” came to mind. I love the flowing of the gown, the fabrics used, and the color. Does anyone know the kind of fabric/materials that was used on this beautiful flowing gown? And how to create a crisscrossed draped bodice with strapless sweetheart neckline (like this dress)? Lastly, how to gather the dress properly? Please let me know as soon as possible…

Thank You,
Erica

probably a chiffon and a stretch silk satin. The bodices was probably draped and has a good support built in.

Draped on a foundation yes. Not convinced about stretch satin: chiffon will do that sort of top nicely as it is, especially if bias cut.

Silk habotai will give you a nice floaty lining and be opaque under the chiffon.
