Help! We are on the finishing stages of a wool coat for my son. He purchased buttons online from an anime company. Oddly enough, the buttons appear to have a top dome, but no shank. There are two long prongs where I would expect the shank. (Just like brass brads except slightly thicker)
Any ideas as to how these attach??? Are they supposed to mount to a shank? Are they just decorative?

I haven’t seen these, but is it possible that there is a base or something that the prongs are designed to fit into? I’m thinking of buttons that have a dome top, but then they are glued to another button – so it looks like the dome has a round frame. Just a guess.

I have been searching the web for some such thing… of course, not knowing what it is called or if it exists makes digging challenging! I’m open to ideas!

Do the prongs bend? If the do, maybe the dome could be attached like stud to the top of a covered button? Or, if it’s possible to punch slots into the metal shank part of a covered button kit, maybe the dome could be attached in that way? Good luck!

Could you post a photo of the buttons?
