hello everyone with an iron, I need some good advice please ;)))
I’m working on a short winter coat. I have bought and pre-washed the appropriate lining fabric for it, but now I cannot iron it properly.
If it’s too hot (3 dots), the fabric changes the colour :(( and at 2 dots or less, the wrinkles stay the same! What else can I do? I have also tried with a moistened pillow-cloth but that didn’t make a difference.
Do I really have to iron it so hot that it changes the colour? Because then it gets a brown-y colour (original fabric is dark green). I would appreciate your help very much!

What type/fabric content of lining fabric are you using? Many types are used for lining.

thanks, yeah, that is a lining fabric, something strong that the women at the shop recommended. I know it’s OK for lining. the ironing is the problem ;))

Is it a polyester lining fabric? That often changes colour when you heat it, but returns to the original colour when it cools again.

dear kate, I will have a closer look to see if the colour has returned. but I’ll have to wait until daylight tomorrow…and try again with a small piece, I’m a bit afraid ;))))
thanks a lot!! then I can go on with that project.

I don’t know if this will help but you could fill a spray bottle with water and spray the fabric a little and iron on the lower setting [2 dots or less].

Thank you for answering, limer.
Yes, I tried the spray-thing also but unfortunately the wrinkles just remained the same ;)))
But… that magic seems to work…the fabric really turns into its original colour again once it has cooled down. Kate, thank you again,
