Hi!
I am currently a Fashion Design student, and have not taken pattern-making class yet, not until spring. I am trying to draft the bodice block pattern, and I was wondering how do I put the seam line on the pattern and when I cut it out on the fabric, how do I go about sewing the pieces together, also are there any good pattern making books that I can get? Thank You!!

There are several pattern drafting textbooks about. Use the one recommended by your course.

The quickest and easiest method of transferring the stitching lines to the calico for the block toile is with a tracing wheel and dressmaker’s tracing (carbon) paper which comes in several colours.

For a block I tend to add between one and two inches of seam allowance to all majo seams, to allow for adjustment.

The best way to stitch it together is by machine, using a long (4-6mm) stitch. Don’t finish the ends of seams: just leave a long tail of thread.
