I’m working with godets for the first time, and I can’t seem to see it in my skirt without getting a pucker at the tip or corner of the godet. Is there any tip that might help me get a clean finish on my godet?
not inserting my godet into a seam, I’m inserting it into a slash I made in the skirt, so there are no seam allowances to sew it too.

Start at the bottom of each side of the godet and work towards the point.
Don’t try to sew it into a point. It’s counter intuitive, but you want to make a slightly blunt point so it looks crisper when done. :)

I’ve tried sewing it over and over, but I still can’t get a smooth point, it keeps puckering!

This is a technique that I use in quiltmaking when I make a Mariners Compass quilt. Start at the bottom of each godet piece and sew up to the point. Then stop when you get to within a seams width of the point and secure the threads. Then go to the other side of the godet and once again , starting at the bottom sew toward the point. When you reach the firrt stitching line stop and secure the threads. You should have a sharp point. You may have to clip a curve to have it smooth out.

Without a seam allowance your tips are going to pucker, no way around it.
