That’s probably a T shirt type knit: cotton or cotton and Lycra. Have you sewn knits before? There’s some advice here on the Burdastyle site: just do a search for sewing with knits.

I found some aztec printed fabrics that might be close to what you’re looking for. They printed on hacci which behaves like cotton, but much cheaper. That might be a good alternative.
