So I’m going to America for the summer and I have the choice to go anywhere I want. Do you know about any schools/camps I could look up that teach how to sketch and design? Not sewing.

Check out FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) or Parsons School both in New York City. I know FIT runs summer classes. For a non-American the modular system may seem confusing since there is so much choice and you can take degree or non-degree classes. My recommendation would be to take a degree (credit) class — no you won’t get a degree and your credits won’t count for anything if you are on a short visit, however the quality of the teaching is higher. It will be intense but worth it. There are of course other cities, with other design schools. Good luck!

Agree with “thunderlily” gave you great advice.

Google: top 10 fashion art & design schools in USA summer courses

Make sure you review some of the above schools, to make sure that you will get the type of education that meets your specific needs.

As “thunderlily” said it can be confusing.

I have a BA in Fashion &Textiles Being around Couture Tailors/Teachers most of my young life got a little burned out, went on got and MBA (masters degree in business administration)..

Best Wishes for anything choose, Patti

I took some fashion courses at college. One was a summer day time course. I took fashion illustration and pattern design neither involved any sewing. The fashion illustration was just drawing and we had a text book and assignments. The pattern design – we were given a sloper to trace and learned how to manipulate darts, make gathering and other parts of the pattern. We were not taught how to draft a sloper though and we did not use the pattern to sew any garments.

Probably you should decide what city you want to go to first. Most large cities have at least one college that should be offering a course this summer. Then yo will be able to arrange for accommodations, travel , transportation to and from classes and estimate other expenses.
