Hi
I would like to make a dress with a lace overlay for my daughter, the pattern I have is a round neck and she would like a v neck. Any advice on converting the patterns. The under dress will be a sweetheart type strapless and the overlay will be all lace with a v to the sweetheart part and having the shoulders just lace. I hope this makes sense as I can’t show you a picture of what I mean.

Just fold the front yoke section of the pattern into a V that will meet at the point of the sweetheart V. Lay the folded edge of the pattern piece along the scalloped edge of the lace. This will give you this sort of neckline:

To get the full Kate Middletone effect, you will need to raise the back neckline and the neck edge of the front into a grown-on collar: http://photos.posh24.com/p/1198920/l/royal_wedding/high_end_designers_approve_of_kates_wedding_dress.jpg
