Hi everyone,

I have fallen in love with a simple but stylish off the shoulder dress.
https://saboskirt.com/product_info.php?cPath=2&products_id=598
Unfortunately I missed out one buying this, but I’m hoping to make one instead.
If anyone has a good pattern to use or any tips, that would be wonderful!

Thanks so much,
S

    Dead simple!

Use this renfair chemise recipe for the body: http://www.reddawn.net/costume/chemise.htm

Make it as long as you like or as short as you dare! Leave off the sleeves and just finish the armscye edges with bias tape. Make a ruffle for the neckline and attach the lace to that. Sew it to the top front and back. Make the shoulder casing out of more bias tape, and put some at the waist for the waist elastic. Trim the hem with more lace!

Lookinbg at the close-ups, it looks like a slightly flared skirt is attached to a closer fitting top. You can do this if you want the extra bother, but in a soft fabric, you might not want to. Experiment with some old sheet or light weight calico/muslin. You might then end up with two frocks!

If you want the pintucks in the bodice, make them in the fabric before cutting the pieces out.

Rather than cotton (unless you can get something very soft, like a cotton lawn.), use a cotton/rayon mix or a rayon challis. Cotton might prove too stiff and too ‘sticky-outy’. You want something soft and drapy.

I am sure you can make it far better than that one in the picture is made, what with the dripping threads and all… :)

You can use an off the shoulder blouse but it does not have sleeves. This blouse can be found at weekend.com or flickr by Blue Paririe plus they show you how to make it,real easy
      .
If you can found a peasant blouse on-line to make, it would be off the shoulders and you would have fun adjusting the sleeves and how much off the shoulders you would like it to be.

What you want is out there and you can find it for free plus you get instructions on making it.
Try free instructions for making a peasant blouse and see what you get.
