Try googling for James Hare, Pongees, Henri Bertrand, and Beckforth Silks… They will all sell you really beautiful quality soft silk satin in a variety of colour and several different weights.
If you want a polyester budget alternative, look up Cheap Fabrics, eFabrics, Croft Mill, The Remnant House, Calico Lane, and Fabricland. I find with Fabricland that it’s better to ring and order/ask for swatches. I send to do that with all the silk people as well.
I have dealt with all of these companies for years, and they are all excellent to deal with.
Someone else to try is BL Joshi UK Ltd, in Wembley. Again, look them up and phone them. Ask for Charlie and tell her I sent you. She’ll get swatches in the post that day if you ring in the morning.

Hello, Im new and Im not sure I should ask questions on other people’s topics,, haha.. I am from South Africa and almost no online fabric shops send to South Africa or deal in Rand.. Our local fabric shops only hold the minimum (they have all kinds of fabric, but no variations).. Can you maybe help me too..

That is a bummer. Afraid I don’t know of any that send to South Africa, but then I wasn’t aware that they DON’T send there either. See if anyone answers you here but it may be better to post your question as a new one with the header “Online fabrics for South Africa” as it may not get spotted here :-)

Hi there www.fabricland.co.uk say this on their website:
‘Ring us we want your business
we will send to most Countries ’no drama’ we do not use pay pal’
If you pay for your fabric in advance and the company gets cleared payment, I’m sure these lovely people will help you, best of luck xx

Hi, I really like myfabrics.co.uk, based in Germany you can get free samples before you buy and the quality is excellent.

got to be honest, i received appalling service with this company and the website showed fabric was instock when it wasnt. I wasted a lot of very valuable time phaffing about with them but maybe that was a one off.
revised i had poor service with myfabrics

Which? Fabricland or myfabrics? Fabricland are not the best I agree. I visited their shop in Brighton once and a lot of fabric was not re-stocked, esp linen. However, I find myfabrics very reliable and excellent prices, plus delivery is ony £5.95.

Plus I’ve just discovered Truro Fabrics who have a great range, great service and they even include a reel of matching thread with your order which I thought was a great idea :-) cheapfabrics.co.uk is another site I’ve used a lot. Haha, all these sites to check out, (the ones recommended above are really good too) can be VERY dangerous. The numebr of times i’ve taken a peek just to browse and broken all my resolutions and ended up buying something :-) I know that cheapfabrics.co.uk does a good range of colours in silk crepe which i think would be suitable (although you’d need to line it too). I bet it would work in silk jersey too. They have an almost idententical emerald green colour in duchess satin on cheapfabrics website
