I know this is a very basic and simple pattern but, i need visuals when sewing. This pattern does not offer that only instructions, I am having a bit of a time puttiing the pockets in place because the instructions are not clear to me! Also the pattern gives instructions for a waist band but no pattern piece for it. I see that it also says to use interfacing on the waisband but does not indicate the weight. Ant help would be appreciated.

Hello, I ordered the pattern from this website. I even sent 2 emails to burda directly but no response.

The pattern would still be from a magazine originally, so when you first downloaded it you clicked on 05/2011 #124 or 02/2011 #124 or… or… – You can probably see that in your download history. – If yours doesn’t include a waist band then it will probably say in the instructions to cut a straight piece soandso long and soandso wide, or maybe it’s a ‘cut-on’ waistband i.e. no waistband at all.

Thanks for your help. Never had a pattern that had me measure and cut out my own waistband. directions do not even say it. I think i am going to give this pattern a miss for now.

Hi
So sorry to read that you are discouraged. I have been using Burda patterns for years even in the days when Burda magazine was in German with an English insert. The patterns are sized to fit real people and I have never found another pattern that fit as well. Could be that it fits me great but not you.
But if Burda patterns do fit you well, it might be worth having a look at the general instructions. There are some things that are assumed and when you get a handle on it, you can sew faster (fewer paper pieces to find, place and cut) and you will be able to custom fit on the fly.
Another thing I loved about the earlier patterns – no seam allowance. Without the seam allowance, I could hold the pattern next to myself and see exactly how it would fit.
I hope that you give it another go and no, I don’t work for Burda, I just like their philosophy and style.
Good luck!

Thanks i appreciate your feedback so much. I have just resumed my sewing after many years of " too many obligations" I am sure my discouragement is a temporary setback . I actually am so excited to start learning more. I think i will get a handle on things. I am checking into classes and found a good resource close to home for help, a sewing salon every Friday night.
