hello everyone!
I’m a new dressmaker – based in the UK – and I’m looking for suggestions of places online where it is really good to buy fabrics cheaply. Funky patterns etc would be great!
Thanks for your help!

Hey mO!
I find Ebay the best place to buy from but it’s really a matter of searching. If you are looking for funky patterns maybe you could try this place?

I have never used it but they seem ok.
Hope that’s useful,

Hi Mojango, I am not sure which part of UK you’re based in. But if you’re in or near london there are lots of places you could go to buy fabrics. I would suggest Sheperds Bush market there are LOTS of fabric stores there and they’re affordable. You can also try Queens Market in Upton Park, there are are lots of stalls in the main market that sell fabric so you’ll be spoilt for choice as well.
Good luck!

Hey Mojango. If you are in the West Midlands (Birmingham) to be precise, you can check out FANCY SILK STORE. I’m a new dressmaker as well. I was at at the store last week and today and they have really nice fabrics that are affordable and patterns too. They have a website too. fancysilkstore.co.uk.
Hope this helps.
Happy Sewing!

Yeah I really like Fabricland too – I have ordered from them lots of times and always been really happy with the fabric. Website is not that great but the service and the quality + value is excellent. Otherwise I like ebay but I find it difficult to search for things by the metre – there’s so many fat squares on there!!
