Hi All, Im new to the forum and was advised to come here from a fellow member. My problem is im a confident sewer from a pattern and decided to attempt a self constructed pattern using measurements now I made an ALine dress that without sleeves added has a perfect fit but the moment i sew the sleeves on the armhole is very tight.

Can anyone suggest where i may have gone wrong? and how i can fix or avoid this happenening the next time.

Thankyou in advance

When drafting the pattern, did you add ease to the head of the sleeve? You need WIDTH rather than height: the total sleeve head seam length should only be a maximum of am inch larger than the armscye total. And did you draft an armscye for a set-in sleeve? And armscye for a sleeve is usually a little lower under the arm and a little wider on the shoulder than for a sleeveless dress. That is, the armscye sits further out towards the shoulder point.
