hi all,
so on my last trip to switzerland i went to the factory store of a textile mill. amazingly, after you think all weaving etc has been outsourced to china and india etc there are still a number of textile mills in switzerland and many of them have factory stores.
now, are there any textile mills left in the us? possibly with factory stores?
i’d love to know!
thanks so much,
sarah-maria

http://www.apparelsearch.com/World_Clothing_Industry/United_States/Fabric_Mills_USA.htm That is a link site that lists most of the ones here in the united states there are a few not on there but if you do a goggle search for union textile manufactures you will get quite a few. when i find my bookmarks for them I will add as i find them. These sell whole sale mostly so not sure you will want them.

If I remember correctly, there are quite a few in Georgia and some of the other southern states. Many T-shirt brands are still made in the USA. In fact there is a major wholesaler of t-shirts in Los Angeles that boasts all of their supplies are made in the USA.

They sell Polartech (probably the most warm and comfortable material in the world), not wholesale (or, that too) and I fantasize about making myself a whole winter-wardrobe that’s like a fluffy warm cloud… and stylish at the same time.
We’ll see. I’ll have to decide on what colour to buy first, their selection is like a candystore, so it ain’t easy!

There are shops in Tennessee and the Carolina’s but most of them are home decor fabric. Burlington has a factory store in Portland if I remember correctly. You’d probably be better off looking for jobbers. Jobbers buy over runs of fabric and sell them to the public. There are quite a few in New York and LA, and a few in Dallas that I know of.
