Hello,
I am making a lined jacket. It has a lapel with collar. I discovered after sewing all the pieces together up to the point where I will be adding the facing (that is supposed to then be sewn to the lining) to the collar, lapel, and front edges that (grrrrr!!)I hadn’t bothered to try it on before this point…and now I am paying for it. It is too snug! Especially in the back shoulder blade area. Also, the front edges that is supposed to have a button and button hole, well, they don’t quite overlap enough! I am wondering how to correct this problem. Should I :
1. Add a strip of fabric in the seam area from cuff to under arm then down to bottom edge of jacket.
OR
2. Add a strip of fabric down the back seam.
Number 1 seems to be the best way to be less noticeable of a correction.
Number 2 could get messy in the neck area where the collar has been sewn on already although maybe it could be a tapered strip being narrow at the top and getting wider as it goes down the back to bottom of jacket.
Hope this is understandable to picture in your mind! Anyone have any other ideas or comments?
Thanks!
Deb

Thanks Deb for confirming my suspicions. I have a quilted jacket in progress and discovered that I cut out the wrong size; too small -oops!! Thought I would add to the front and the sides and up sleeve. Sure needed confirmation of that. Thanks! Judi
