Hello everyone! I’m new here and not the most skilled seamstress..(YET!)
I have just downloaded 09/2011 Sleeveless blouse #128, printed it and put it all together. My question is this: why is it so long? Am I missing something? Please help!
Thanks!

How long is it? It’s not the dress version maybe?

I think the pattern is supposed to be pretty long – from this pic (photo of #128) the hem seems to finish mi-thigh on the mannequin. On a different photo the blouse is shown tucked into the waistband of some pants/trousers – so I suppose in real life it doesn’t need to be quite so long. Maybe measure the length from the neck point on the pattern’s bodice front piece to the hemline and then compare that to your own body, and then adjust the pattern pieces to shorten it to where you’d like the new hem to sit?
Note: burda style magazine patterns do not have seam allowance included on the pattern pieces.

Hey thanks to you both! To answer your question, sewingfan1- it says its just the top but it is certainly long enough to be a dress..and I’m 5’5… I think seemane is right though, I’m just going to cut it to hit me higher… I’m getting a dress form delivered tomorrow(can’t wait!) so this will all be much easier.
I still don’t know what pieces 5 and six are though. Any ideas? I wish the instructions with these patterns were a bit more helpful.

I’ve not bought one of the downloaded patterns before but in the magazine for this design, only the shirt dress has pieces 5 and 6 which = the front and back sleeve pieces. The shirt only has pieces 1-4 (1=front, 2=back, 3=standing collar, 4=front facing and then you cut 2 bias strips for the armholes). Maybe they’ve uploaded the wrong pattern?

That might just be it, Sewingfan1- I bet that’s the issue. Thanks- I thought I was going crazy! This is a big help to me.

Did you manage it in the end? This exact thing just happened to me! I’m not sure whether to cut my fabric or not! :(
