I have seen some poppets on various websites but what are they ? I googled poppet doll but it brought up a lot of voodoo examples and they look totally different. I’d like to have a go at one if someone could point me in the beginners direction, please.

if i remember right, the word poppet is a sort of generic term for doll (it was more widely used in the past). according to dictionary.com poppet can also be a term or endearment for a girl/small child.

I am most likely waay off base, but 1. there were soft plastic beads in the 1970’s (?) called Poppit beads, that snapped apart. 2. there is another name for what in the US are called snaps, & elsewhere are called poppers. If spelled poppet, as in, “That’s a darling little poppet you have there, missus….” then a child is meant. See what happens if you can only recall the non-essentials of life? you retain lots and lots of “whatever” ;) Cordially, Nehmah

Ooops, “Poppets” are a type of chocolate-covered candy with assorted fillings, but they look like really round Raisinettes which used to be the exclusive property of the Candy& Popcorn counters in movie houses. Sorry, Nehmah

I think the OP means the poppets as seen on craftster.org – check in the toy and dolls forum.
