Burda Style For people who sew

on monday i took my niece to her first dance class. Shes four. she ( as well as i ) were crestfallen when we noticed she was the only little one not wearing a tutu!
I have some tulle kicking around that came off of a dress that no longer fit – but couldnt bear to throw out.
The tutu i want to make shouldnt require to much… Just wondering , does anyone know of a tutorial for basic tutu for a toddler ? Most of the tutorials i found on line looked like they would be difficult for my little ballet star to dance in.

Would be worlds of help!

  I make one that was an elastic waist – one inch elastic. I just cut long strips of tulle and knotted them over the elastic all around. The elastic did stretch out too much so it was too loose. I fixed that by taking a hair elaistc and making a bump in the back. So my neice can pull on the tutu herself. If the tutu was a tied on – I know that she would have to have help because she does not know how to tie a bow yet. http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/tutu_tutorial

  i wound up using ribbon amd knotting on the tulle in a simlar fashion mickeygirl. My niece loved it! shes also not old enough to tie it on by herself but she only wears it when she goes to class anyway. Thanks everyone for your help! the pictures are in my studio if anyone is interested in seeing how it turned out!
