Hello all I’m new here and a complete novice! I’m doing the burda young pattern 7556 but struggling on the sleeves!
I’m not sure why there are two pieces of material for each sleeve. Do I baste stitch them together for the gathers or separately and then baste stich then together before pulling the gathers on the two pieces? This is the first ever patten I’m making. It was advertised as easy on the pack I managed the interfacing and darts just fine and have looked at countless you tube tutorials but none feature a double sleeve like this patten so I have no idea how to make it.

I found the pattern instructions. Looks like each sleeve piece has basting lines stitched first, before the inner and outer sleeves are sewn together. Since I saw the photo of the dress variation with sleeves, I see the gathering will be along the centre vertical seam on the sleeve.http://www.burdafashion.com/downloads/einzelschnittkollektion/EN_Anleitungen/7556_EN.pdf

https://media.fabfab.net/images/products/popup/30_7556.jpg Sometimes sleeves are made of two or more pieces for style or fit considerations. You’ll get used to the concept because Burda Style does tend to offer some designs that appeal more than what North American pattern producers are publishing. Love the quirks, the instructions take getting used to.
