Hi,
I really love a spencer pattern from burdastyle magazine, but it’s in plus size, and i’m more a 6 or 8 …
Is it possible to reduce it that much? I can make it for a size 8 to a 6, for example, so can I use the same technique?
Thanks!

I copy and pasted this from a previous post I did, the link would not work.
See if this helps, shows grading up or down, please note lot of reading information:

Suggest that you make a muslin or cheap fabric mock up to make sure you get an accurate fit. (Trial & Error)
Good Luck, hoping others have more input for you!!

Thanks! It doesn’t say specifically if it is possible, but it seems that it is…

Not sure if this will help too, but I graded a Simplicity pattern from a 12 to a 16 using this Burda technique, you can do the same thing to grade down but I think the more sizes you do the less accurate the shape (?) so if you are only 1 or 2 sizes smaller than the smallest plus size then it should be ok but 3 or more might mean you need to cross your fingers ;) Link here from my blog: http://thecuriouskiwi.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/how-to-enlarge-or-reduce-a-pattern_burda.jpg

Remember that plus size patterns are not just graded up from smaller sizes, so you need to be particularly careful about grading down.
