Just spotted an article in the Toronto Star about the “return” of sewing and hey, Burdastyle.com is mentioned in the piece!

I also learned of a couple other places in Toronto to visit for fabrics-win-win!

I blame my sewing on my seeing so many episodes of Project Runway. I usually say to myself, “I can make that too.” But I’m not a designer. I sew to 1) get something to fit (I have broad shoulders and bigger arms), 2) to get a style I like but can’t find (for previous reason or it’s just not available in RTW) and 3) to save money, but sometimes it’s just about the same cost as RTW. Note: I have made a good amount of outdoor and athletic wear. When it comes to bicycling clothes I DO save a good amount of money.

I do it for the creative outlet AND because it is a lifeskill that can save money (i.e. pay $40 to have a tailor replace the zipper or do it myself for the cost of a zipper.).
