hi, does anyone know a good way to machine sew sequins?? i broke so many needles on fishscale fabric but got the dress finished. the smaller hand stitched (apparently) sequins broke that many needles i gave up. i used every size and still they broke. i found the finer needles lastest the longest but they still broke. i could’nt even sew a dress seam fully without at least 3 needles breaking. very frustrating x

If the sequins are sewn on, remove them from the seam allowances before stitching the pieces together. If they are bonded on, just suffer! ;) Fabric from hell… Known for this, I’m afraid.

I always make it a point to sew sequins on a lesser machine due to sequin shrapnel. Sequins always get into the works and if I ruin a machine I don’t want it to be my Bernina. As Kate says, remove the sequins from the seam allowance if possible. Sadly you will probably hit some none the less. Be sure the machine gets a good cleaning once you have completed your project.

You could try a Jeans needle, super sharp.
