I bought a linen offcut only to find that the pale stripe lies ACROSS the fabric. I want to make a pair of capri pants. The fabric seems equally strong both across and down (no stretch). Can I cut my pattern to make the stripe run downwards without risking the wearability of the garment? Thanks

yes, the warp and weft should be of equal strength and that shouldn’t be a problem.
