Hi there!

I have 1.5 yards of Blooming Lotus fabric by Kona Bay that I bought in the summer to make “something” for my mom; she loves lotuses.

But, I did not have a project in mind and have already made her a purse and a wall hanging. It is not the kind of fabric I think she would wear, see here http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=101989&sid=31U9Hz2EN2wBCMy-31109364296.ea (the link did not work but it can be copied and pasted into your browser if interested).

Any ideas? She is going to be 63, is into simple things like navy and charcoal grey for clothes but loves pink and yellow.

I was thinking a throw for when she is in the lazy boy chair, maybe quilted, but would that be possible with 1.5 yards?

Any and all ideas are welcome!!

Thanks in advance for your input!!!

Jennifer

A lap quilt would be good, if you kalidascope patch the lotus fabric (see one block wonders )with an added in a contrast fabric, or maybe some tote bags/toiletry bags/ cushions…….

I too suggest a quilt and I made a knee quilt recently using contrasting fabrics — look at my projects page to see it and ideas for bags. Large soft cushions can be lovely to rest upon in the lounge or bedroom. Table/ dressing table linen might be good too — there are lots of possibilities. Have a good look through the general projects pages on the site.

Thank you both for your ideas!! I was thinking lap quilt but I’ve never sewn a quilt before and now the idea of cushions is taking hold. I think she’d love the different sizes and a bolster too. Thanks a bunch!!

I’m still going to peek at your projects page, Kate, just to see if it looks like a possibility.
