Hi Everyone! I’m about to start sewing a simple dress, but unfortunately the fabric which I picked, is in need of a lining (its a very thin stretch satin). So, the ladies at the fabric shop recommended I sew a lining for the dress. I have a vague idea how to do this – but is there perhaps a tutorial / or can someone give advice here, on the steps to follow for sewing a dress + lining? Any help will be appreciated! Thank you!

Super information, thank you :) I have learnt so much from the articles! I have discovered, that what I had in mind, is an underlining (the fabric is very soft and lightweight). I have some heavier fabric in the same shade as the lightweight outer fabric, thus will proceed with “two dresses” and will follow the instructions given! Thanks again :)
