Hi,

I’m hoping to get a bit of help from the lovely Burda Community.

I have been roped in to a local event (Southampton UK) on the 14th March. It is a vintage clothing/music event at a local bar.

I have been asked to run a stall where people can pay about £3 and then run riot with fabric scraps to create some of their own cool DIY accessories. I have been asked to come up with some ideas for what they can make. I have had a look through the accessories Projects here on Burdastyle but THE TOUGH PART is that they have to be quick and easy AND made with no machine sewing (as there will not be access for a sewing machine at the bar).

We may have a glue gun or two and will be able to provide chains, links, badge backs, earring hooks and that kind of thing but I really need help with ideas for non-sewn (or very minimal hand sewing) accessories. Any help will be really appreciated.

Cheers,
Candy

how about making a greeting card or gift tag from scraps? Find a quick drying glue..or use a glue stick..to attach scraps to a paper background..the individual can “design” their own picture. Use even scraps of ribbon, buttons, sequins, etc. Just precut paper to size and have plenty of glue with perhaps a ziplock or plastic bag to carry their project away (in case the glue hasn’t completely dried.) you could even have an old catalog or old magazines in case the people want to tear out a picture to add to their montage.

Luggage tags, book cover, simple picture to take-away, ribbons and sequins/ beads attached to earrings, safety pin badges — cut simple shapes e.g. rabbit, sheep, cat, decorate with eyes etc. Glue to cardboard. Cut round and attach safety pin with sellotape.

You could make a quick fabric headband with some fabric flowers on top (or whatever you wish.)

maybe you could pre-make simple tote & charge extra $ or 2 for them. people can decorate with fabric. quick stitches. gather a circle to make a quick flower. cut strips with pinking scissors to gather and sew on. can you have an iron? what about using fusible web to attach stuff applique style?
