Burda Style For people who sew
Hi,
I have a lovely silk sari that mum gave me. I want to make it into a dress for my teenager. She wants the skirt of the dress with grecian folds. I have no idea how you make some soft, gentle folds that are not pleats.
Would be great if someone could give me some tips, preferably with drawings.

Check out Vogue Pattern V2890. I do not know how to post a picture on the comments, so please visit voguepatterns.com to check it out. I’ve always loved that look and perhaps you can attempt to make it. Looks advanced, though.

Another thought came to mind – I was looking at the skirt part of the dress I made (check my ID picture) and I remember it had a lot of soft folds as in Vogue Pattern V2890. The skirt part is cut in a quarter to half circle – many pieces of the same joined together for that effect. When it drapes to the floor, it will give you that soft fold effect. Not sure if that’s what your daughter is looking for.
