Hello! I’m visiting London next weekend and I only have one day to shop so I’m wondering if anyone has advice about what the best shops are??

I’m looking for jersey/knits… soft cottons, just general nice fabrics to make a few casual dresses and tops

Also I’m getting into knitting so if anyone has any advice about where I could buy some lovely thick soft wool, that’d be great!

Thanks
x

I live in Swansea Wales,if you are ever down this way spend a little time at the only material shop we have now you wont be sorry. It is the size of a small bed room but is like a tardis.when you enter this shop be prepared to come out broke they have every thing you could ever wish to sew and if they don’t have it they will get it for you.The owner is a magician. They are called Lee mills Fabric but we call him Mad Mike and the shop is at the bottom of Orchard st I can stress enough if you really want a good day out don’t bother site seeing just go there. Gaynor.

If you’re in South London at all, check out Fabrics Galore on Lavender Hill in Clapham/Battersea. It’s about a 15min walk straight up the hill from Clapham Junction train station or a v short bus journey from Clapham Common tube. Check out their website for best directions. They do end of lines and have so much to choose from including liberty fabrics – and the best thing is it’s really cheap!
