Hi, I’m re- posting this as I’m not 100% where it belongs-
does anyone know the best way to sew elastic on to sheer fabric? I was thinking of maybe using a shallow zigzag with shirring elastic for the bobbin thread? Or otherwise I think the other day I saw something that looked like a clear elastic thread?

What I’m looking to achieve is something like the edges on strumpet and pink knickers;

I think you can see it best in the cheerleader style – that really subtle elastic edge. I have absolutely no idea how to do it. (and by the way they’re worth a look for the sake of it – so pretty!)

Any one have any ideas?

    I think you’re right about using shirring elastic. I can’t think of any elastic as fine as the one from the photo (Cheerleader white panties you linked) except shirring elastic. Perhaps you could play around with the tension so that it doesn’t gather too much fabric?
