Hi all

I’m looking to make this dress for a cocktail party:

since I could buy it for neither love nor money (or pleading emails to the website) before it sold out.

The top of the dress is fine but I’m wondering whether I need to taper the sides of the skirt to achieve the fullness, or whether I can be lazy and just rely on the pleating to give it the same effect? I’ve never made a skirt with this many pleats and all in one direction so I’m not sure what the effect will be….

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Cheers
Josey

Looking at the way it hangs, I should say that as long as your fabric has the same drape quailities as the original, you should get pretty much the same effect just pleating rectangles to the waistband.

Thanks Kate. I couldn’t get the same fabric so I’m planning to use a heavy satin overlayed with sheer silk/cotton blend voile. I’ll give it a try and see how it works out.
