I owned a Brother as my first sewing machine many years ago and it ran like a charm. The only issue was the tension had to be fixed after a year or so of heavy use. Sorry to say I have not had experience with the Project Runway edition and have not heard anything from anyone who owns one. I now own a Babylock Esante’, made by Brother, and have had it for about 8 years I think. It is a great machine! Just make sure you service the machine on a yearly basis to keep it running in tip top condition. I hope this helps and good luck on your purchase!

All of my machines are brother. My very first was a Brother. They are good machines. Just keep it serviced Like Sew4my3 says. I usually do it myself from directions in the manual and have had no major problems. Just a needlel break or two from user error. lol Brother’s are great. I also was thinking about purchasing the Runway but decided to buy an embroidery and add to my fabric stash instead. ;)

i have a much cheaper version of the project runway edition. mine doesn’t have any of the embroidery features. i’ve had it about a year, and it works just great. when i read reviews about the model i have, people complained about the needle threader, but i think they just weren’t utilizing it properly or didn’t have the patience. mine works just fine. again, i’m a novice sewer and mine has far less features, but i haven’t had any problems with it.

To use the needle threader you have to practice, practice practice it’s not the easiest thing to align.

Everyone told me to be sure to buy a sewing machine from a sewing machine store and/or dealer. I got the PR Brother from Walmart just cos of the price and I really wanted to practice my newly learned sewing skills. I have had it for about 10 months now. So far so good. No issues, no problems. The user manual is pretty good too not just for machine issues but for learning how to sew eg how to sew zippers, jersey buttons etc. I am loving it so far!

I love mine as well, I actually made a dress with the machine that won a design contest for a former contestant from project runway the prize I won was a janome machine, so I was actually thinking about getting rid of mine if you would be interested! If so let me know!

I tell my student to buy a brother if they are on a limited budget for the $150-$400 price range and the features they can’t be beat. I’ve had a CS6000 for 5 years and use it quite often and am thinking of getting the SE350 http://www.amazon.com/Brother-SE350-Computerized-Embroidery-and-Sewing-Machine/dp/B001AQER4I.
