Hi!
Something I would like is to be able to do is add a member on my followed activity – and not by adding them as a friend of mine. Since, well, I don’t actually know them.

Well I should imagine that there are very few of us here that actually ‘know’ one another. I have people on my list that I have never met , simply because I like what they do.

Would someone please explain how I can “befriend” a member here? I can find no way to do so. I’ve lost some of mine in the transition. Cordially, Nehmah

Going to a member profile, like mine
You would find above “More about luislavena” box, an option to add me to your friends.
You can use search to find for other members profiles or click over their usernames in the forum or on a Project, Technique or Pattern.
Hope that helps.
Cheers!

I think the term “friend” is used lightly, I’ve been added as a friend by a few member and I have added other members as my finieds but it is purley to “follow” them, not like Facebook or such :)

yep it is totally different to other websites as we don’t have to confirm that we are each others “friends”. i can be someones friend but they don’t have to be mine.. yeah i guess the word isn’t the best description but its a friendly environment so i hardly think it matters. :)

I agree with hannc, I’ve addes a few members whom I’ve never contacted or spoken to as friends… maybe there’s a better term than frind? I’m a fan of all of them, I find inspiration in their creations, simp.ly. I hope they feel flattered by it and not intruded :-)

As the others have said “friend” is a loose term on here, you don’t necessarily need to know the person to be their friend, though that is not to say I haven’t become real friends with some of my BurdaStyle “friends”

I seem to have lost the ability to “favorite” projects that people have created like I used to. I still have all my old favorites on my profile, I just can’t add to it anymore. I may not be looking in the right place or is that feature gone? I really love it, it’s my inspiration keeper.

You definitely can still add projects to your favourites. Under the main picture of the project there is a little tick & “add to favourites” button :)

I’d like to remove some “friends” from my list. How do I do that? My “Activities” list gets filled up with all the things they’re doing. I’d like to be able to have a list of “Admired Sewists” that I can later refer to as I do with the “favorites” list. Alternatively, or preferably I’d like to have the option to decide if I want to know when they upload a project or not. I definitely want to opt out of seeing information about all of their status changes. Is there some way to do this?

If you click on your My Friends tab and hover over the person you want to remove a “remove” link pops up in the lower right :)

Hello gd32,
Welcome to Burdastyle! I hope you grow to enjoy the site as much as my self and the other members. You mentioned BSC (burdastyle club) and I thought I would give you the link here to check if you have a club in your area. This site you are on here is Burdastyle and the BSC is clubs put together by members in their area.
Also, if you need help with anything on here please feel free to contact me, your friendly Burdastyle moderator. I look forward to seeing your creations posted in the “Projects”.

We already have this feature. Just go to your profile page and click on My Account and you will see another menu where you can click on Notification Settings. From there you will see Display the following website activity in my profile and under When one of my contacts you will be able to set up this feature.
I know it seems like a lot of direction above but it is really simple. I just wanted to make sure I covered all of the clicks.
Let me know if you need additional help setting this up.
Happy sewing from your friendly Burdastyle Moderator!
