I wish there was a category non commercial/commercial so that I can choose to watch only the projects which are not made for sale. With the growing number of projects which are for sale, the fun of looking at the creations is dwindling – some days the projects page looks more like a shop than like a gallery of self sewn garments.

Hey Zora, They are all self sewn we are just allowing people to see what is for sale (people used to put it in their descriptions) I hope that answers your question, if not let me know!

I didn’t ask a question Alden, I asked for separate categories for commercial and non commercial projects so I can choose not to look at the projects which are for sale. We have a huge amount of projects which are for sale and personally, I am not happy with it. And some of them are clearly not homemade (we have another thread somewhere here complaining about this and asking for strifter guidelines).
We discussed the problem of creations which are for sale on the old Burdastyle before and now that creations have the “for sale” tag, it should be very easy to let us choose if we want to see projects which are for sale or not.

Hi Zora and Alden, I have to agree with you Zora. I started the how do we mark a pattern/project as inappropriate because of companies like ebikini and buylingerinet blatantly using this site for free commercial advertising. However there does now seem to be a large amount of projects that are marked for sale, and whilst I have no problems with individuals making items and selling them to make extra cash, (as long as they are active members and they make the items, not someone else), it would be good for us to be able to have the choice to view these or not.

I agree with Zora and Judeb. Most of the projects for sale contain little or no description on how they were made and are thus uninteresting for me. Overall I prefer how crafster is handling this issue. On their page it is not allowed to list items with any kind of promotion of sales. Only the shop can be listed at the end of the page. I don’t come here to buy anything and don’t like all this asking me to buy sth.

Hey everyone, I have heard you and we will be discussing this for future iterations. Thank you for explaining your position further

I know you’ve already said the issue is noted, Alden… Just wanted to add that I agree with the comments of the others. Although I appreciate that many members may be looking for ways to make some money from their creations, if there isn’t much information on how things were made, I’m overall less interested. An ability to choose not to display items for sale would be a plus for me.

I also feel that there needs to be a separate category for sale items. I come here to see the work of fellow amateur sewing enthusiasts and to learn. It has become a daily pleasure to visit the site (cup of coffee and a few minutes of uninterrupted Burdastyle=heaven) but recently it has occurred to me that Burda is starting to look a bit like ETSY with all of these things for sale. Does Burda receive a fee for transactions/sales generated? I understand you need to profit in order to be successful with the site, and in this economy any way to do that is a good thing but as gedwoods has indicated above the option to choose not see items for sale would be great for those of us who are not interested. Thank you.

I really, really would like to check several boxes when I post patterns and/or projects. I just realised that you have to select if the project is for men OR women, which to me seems a rather old-fashioned way to do things. Most of the things I make are for women, but many projects on the site could work for both men and women. And that’s just great! And I love multi-purpose, multi-style, mulit-seasons projects the very most. Versatility. So please consider making it possible to check more than one box with the things you have to fill out to post projects/patterns/techniques, it’d be great!

I have defiantly heard what you all said, thank you for voicing your opinions! We are looking through the boxes and will be doing some adjustments in future iterations of the site. Again thank you for all your suggestions!
